8/04/2006: S14 to S13 ECU adapter harness is now working!

Product Review: This is a step down harness for a 1997 to 1998 s14 Kouki to use an earlier s13 ECU. The intend is to adapt an s13 ECU to the s14 obd2 chassis for the sake of tuning purposes. The harness is available at www.rywire.com . This harness was originally pinned for 1995 to 1996 s14 Zenki but the only difference between the two models is the placement of one wire, which is the fast idle control device.

fitment: The harness fits and connects flawlessly and even comes with a 10 mm lock down screw for a sure fit connection.

Operability: The product functions as advertised. Everything works including the consult diagnostic connection and even A/C signal for fast idle.

A note about the conversion: the s13 ECU will not function correctly with the s14 MAF sensor. A S13 MAF sensor will need to be adapted in order for this to work. The other alternative is to use a modified ECU and replace the VQ MAP in the s13 rom with the one extracted from a s14 rom. I chose the latter and it seems to be functioning properly.

Overall, no drivability issue with this modification. Stay tuned, the s14.3 test car is one step closer to boost!!
