03/08/2007: Spring Already. NOPI is coming to Ennis, Tx

NOPI is coming to Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Tx. NOPI tried to have it down here in Houston a few years back. It was a really bad turn out and the weather didn't even hold up for the show to go on. That's one of biggest drawback about throwing any kind of event in Houston. The weather is so unpredictable, that it is always risky to organize anything down here. I hope they will bring it back to Houston, so I don't have to trek 3 hours north just to see the show. I am trying to enter the s14.3 into the car show but by the time I got it back from the body shop, they have closed the registration. I think they will take registration for the show at the door of the event, so we will see. I am making a trip up Early Saturday morning. Since it is a car show, I will try to give some coverage on my website here.

I have been pretty busy at work, so it looks like I am only updating this website once every month. That isn't bad except I would love to spend more time doing what I like. Too bad this doesn't pay the bill like my real job or I would love doing it full time. February and March is always beautiful down here in Houston, TX. Trulucks is one of my favorite restaurant so I am going to give it my shameless plug. I posted a few pictures outside the parking lot.

The engine bay looks great now thanks a newly painted valve cover. It was made possible with 2 cans of 5 dollars WalMart paint. It's a pretty nice two stages process and I am very impress on how it turned out. The paint is made by Duplicolor.

I have been told to remove the annoying opening movie since it takes forever to load and I guess no one listens to techno anymore. (sorry Moby)  I also removed Ameen's endorsement since by now my service has been proven to "work" and not blow stuff up. It was quite interesting that I got to tune an automatic s13 a few weeks ago. The owner bought a re-tuned ECU from someone on EBay and it didn't run the car. The owner swears that the ECU core is good and it proved to be true. Long story short, I replaced the tune and tuning hardware and the car came to live. We spent a few hours data logging with a wideband and my laptop. I fine tuned a few area and called it a night. It's interesting to watch how much torque the motor gain from the turbo and how bad it slips the automatic transmission. It's even more interesting to smell the burning transmission fluid during our test runs.
